Tijuana, Mexico

As we had an opportunity to visit Mexico during the trip, we definitely didn't want to miss it. So.. we took our car and drove it through west cost visiting interesting places like Newport Beach (yes, the place where they shoot The O.C.).

Beforehand we were quite bargain for Tijuana, but after all it was very clean and safe to be. To almost every place we took a taxi so in that sense it was very safe. Anyway, whatever you do, don't leave your common sence at border. :) About 300 000 people cross the border between Tijuana and San Diego everyday, so it's very famous tourist attraction.

Like in other places, we had made the hotel reservation beforehand in Finland. Hotel Empirio Tijuana was very good 5-star hotel, with the most hospitable and customer-friendly staff. Hotel food was also excellent and rates very cheap.

Clothes, especially good brands, were rather cheap in Tijuana. Pair of Levi's 501 cost some 30¬, which was even cheaper than in Levi's outlet in US. So.. we did someshopping and of course bought huge sombreros (which was later very nice to take into the plane). US dollar was accepted pretty much everywhere in Tijuana business.

We also made a sneak peek to Tijuana's night life. Baby rock was a huge night club with Hollywood set -like decoration made of rocks. Too bad we were the only tourists that night.

There were many boutiques in the downtown selling Mexican products and all kinds of stuff for tourists. Surprisingly enough, Viagra and Cialis were advertised everywhere and sold in local drug stores. Have to go back when we are a little older.. :-)
